HOW TO · BACKUP & RESTORE

Keep a copy before you need it.

Your Klicksy history lives on your device. A full backup gives you a file you can restore if you reinstall or move phones. We do not have a server copy of your trips to recover for you.

Create a full backup.

A full backup includes the data currently available in the app, including trips and routes, vehicles, odometer readings, purposes, business hours, saved places and preferences.

  1. Open Settings → Backup & restore

    Choose Create Full Backup.

  2. Save the file outside the app

Use the share sheet to save it in Files, on an external drive or another location you control. A cloud folder is also your choice; its provider’s privacy practices apply.

  3. Check that the file is there

Find the saved file and keep it somewhere you can access after changing or resetting the device. Make a fresh copy when you want to preserve newer trips.

Restore a saved backup.

Install or reopen Klicksy, go to Settings → Backup & restore, and choose Restore Backup. Select the file you saved. The app imports the data and reports what was restored.

Existing matching records are recognised so they are not simply added again. Check the restored trips and settings before relying on the log, particularly the selected storage period.

Watch the storage period.

Klicksy keeps trips and routes for one, two or three years. Two years is the default. When the selected period expires, older trips are deleted automatically. A shorter setting can also remove older records when you confirm the change.

Back up and export before those records expire. A new backup contains what is still in the app; it cannot bring back trips that were already removed. Keep earlier backups and reports if you need that history.

Keep reports alongside the backup.

A backup is for restoring Klicksy. CSV and PDF reports are easier to read, review and share without the app. For bookkeeping, save both the reports you need and the backup you would use to restore.

Common questions

How long are my trips kept?

Choose one, two or three years in Settings. The default is two years, and older trips and routes are removed automatically. Save reports and backups before they expire if you need records for longer.

What happens if I delete the app or change phones?

Deleting Klicksy removes its local data. Create a full backup and save it outside the app before deleting it or moving to another device. After reinstalling, use Restore Backup to import the file. We cannot recover your trip history from a Klicksy server.
